Studying on the internet allows you to collect factual information and real-life experiences, but it is not YOUR experience.

This documentary work is necessary, but certainly not sufficient.

• There will necessarily be a reality gap, because the information on the internet is not objective for many reasons
• your vision is still that of an Westerner, with a culture and expectations that often simply do not exist in Paraguay.

You will need to be open-minded and adaptable, unless you want to liv1e like an isolated colonist.

Please, please, do not leave it all behind on your first trip and arrive in Paraguay having burnt bridges.

The chances of success as an individual are slim and as a family almost non-existent, unless you have lots of capital.

The country is no longer interested in backpackers, utopians or idle middle class Westerners.

While a two-year residence permit is still granted without restrictions, a ten-year permanent residence permit is conditional on a contribution to the country:

• a higher education degree or
• setting up a company or
• being a pensioner with a large-enough pensions.

Building an expatriation project requires time and commitment.

Wanting to escape the USA/Europe “madness” is not a life project, it is just a motivation.

Come on a first trip to get the temporary residence, get a feel for the country and do some sightseeing.

If Paraguay is not for you, you will have fond memories of the tourist trip !
